glitter in the air

it was christmas morning today in the studio when the new avalon book from thibaut arrived.  i am currently beyond obsessing over the marathon fabric... maybe because it reminds me of confetti and glitter?!  either way it's fun, fresh and fabulous!  i know for a fact i'm going to upholster anything and everything i can get my hands on in this print!

heart pounding

tonight i left a meeting with a new client with a big smile on my face, a little skip in my step and my heart pounding with excitement! the client has a collection of artwork that is so absolutely drool-worthy that i wanted to stay and hear the story behind every piece! needless to say i'm more than excited to get started and use their art as inspiration for starting the spaces... it is very rare that you come across a client who has a collection of art just waiting to be showcased! in particular the above picture came to mind as inspiration for their guest bedroom... they have a small collection of prints all containing various shades of orange and i can already envision them hanging in a cluster above the bed!

quote of the day...

"i love the visual energy that comes from the imperfect, the unexpected. people sometimes think designers create fairy tales, but we give them something that’s much more sincere. we don’t live in fairy tales.”

inspiration strikes

i currently have two large blank canvases hanging above both sides of my pass through fireplace that have yet to be painted by yours truly..... i came across this picture in the portfolio of miles redd and felt inspired. i think maybe, just maybe i might start painting this weekend... stay tuned!

today in the studio...

i pulled together two looks for a client meeting tomorrow...
i chose the same thibaut print (for window panels) in two different colorways and pulled accordingly... fingers crossed they like what they see! update: the client took a total of 2 seconds before choosing the first option! (my favorite)

quote of the day...

“matchy-matchy is not for me. i don’t want things to be too perfect. it’s like pairing a matte top with a shiny skirt, so they play off each other. i want there to be relationships with texture and color, and sometimes it’s more about the contrast that chimes."
