quote(s) of the day...

“in formal living rooms where a lot of expensive yardage is likely to be required, i will avoid using a patterned fabric for the window treatments in order to give them staying power.”

“i get the hives when everything in a room is in pairs... so i purposefully mixed in various types of seating in this area.”

“designing is like cooking in the sense that it’s best done with a smidge of this and a pinch of that. the more pairs of things one uses, the fewer opportunities there are to mix things up.”

"my job is to be the editor here-i have found that people don’t do well with tons of choices."

i die.

jaquiel abundance giclee canvas art via overstock

i'm currently obsessing over these canvas prints i found on overstock and i'm dying to use them as inspiration for an entire room... now all i need is a willing client! any takers?!
seriously, i'm not joking... anyone? :)

today i'm loving...

progress @ suite three

lobby entrance... chairs & canvas art arrived!
(not sure on the table & i'm still on the lookout for a quirky lamp)

waiting area... ghost chairs arrived! yippie!
(still patiently waiting on the art to arrive and trying to find a console of sorts in addition to pendant/string lights for either side of the tv, and i'm not sure what to do about tables?)

main office... light arrived & installed!
(she loves it & so do i!)

in addition to sharing the progress i made today i'm also going to give away a secret... because i feel like spreading the love today! listen very, very carefully: when one goes over the projected budget and still has a significant amount of items to purchase..... shop @ overstock.com! the lobby chairs & art, the "ghost" chairs, and the geometric light all came from my new friends at overstock! i highly suggest you click your way over there asap before something sells out (and you have to wait till they email you at 4am that the item you requested is back in stock... because god forbid you roll over and assume the chairs will still be available when you wake up at 8... because hello, they won't be!)

have a fabulous weekend!
happy shopping!

sneak peek @ suite three

i know i posted a month or so ago with promises to post the after pics a few days later and big surprise... i forgot! sorry! the law office is still a work in progress but i wanted to give you a sneak peak of the what has been accomplished so far... and wow, we have come a long way!
(see before pics & read about the project here)
sign located behind the reception desk... at first we just ordered the stainless letters to be mounted on the exposed brick... they ended up getting lost on wall and thus there was no wow factor... we had a custom box built and painted black so the letters would pop... i think the sign works much better this way!

stay tuned :)
i should be finishing up in the upcoming weeks!

suite three update

before pics here and here

i received a few requests the past few days to update on the progress of a few projects (thank you for the lovely comments) as you can see from above picture the new signage finally arrived and the last coat of paint was applied... i'm currently having big black planters made for the exterior and the top half of the building still needs painted but it's pretty much finished!
stay tuned for the final, final, absolute final pics :)

p.s. does anyone know where i can find a unique exterior mat for outside the front door
(the two random mats are obviously not going to cut it... boring!)

grape. chocolate. yum.

photos via amanda nisbet
okay, so maybe grapes and chocolate wouldn't be so great in terms of eating them together but they sure do look yummy paired together in decor! i spent my teenage years with a grape colored bedroom and have since steered clear of the color... these lovely images however, make me reconsider! i'm thinking the two colors would look lovely in a powder room or bathroom :)
