ashley whittaker design

i was going through stacks of old magazines today (you know, the ones i save under my bed... because who knows when you might need them again, right?) and i ran across the february '08 issue of house beautiful featuring ashley whittaker and immediately jumped online to google her... she of course, has her own website! i compiled a few of my favorite images to share with you below... she is certainly a designer after my own heart! i admire her ability to put her own spin on traditional... creating chic, fresh, and sophisticated spaces... enjoy :)

who doesn't love coral & blue paired together...
these colors get along so well!

i'm loving the window panels...
the green and blue colors make this space playful & sophisticated!

zebra print outside the box... loves it

the ottoman adds the chic factor :)

this wallpaper... i die!
i'm thinking i need to find this paper in pink for my future closet ;)

thanks for the mention...

ekb @ idfa

i first ran across the photos of "color vibe" by eileen kathryn boyd on habitually chic and instantly fell in love (can i please move in tomorrow?!) i'm a big fan of mixing bold colors & her choice of colors are perfection in my book! as always her eclectic style is polished off with her use of unique artwork... flawless, to say the least! i could go on & on but i think i will let her impeccable taste speak for itself... enjoy :)

here's hoping these photos inspire anyone who is afraid of using color...
life is too short, people... think it over :)

jonathan adler will you marry me?

okay, so maybe i don't really want to marry the man... after all, i'm pretty sure i'm not his type! but i have honestly not ran across a photo of his work that i do not absolutely love!

in the current issue of house beautiful they use the title "what every home needs" with ja's work being featured on the inside as "pizzazz!" and i could not agree more... every home needs a little sparkle!

one the top reasons i love ja is contributed to his ability to make spaces playful yet sophisticated... and the below images without a doubt showcase his talent to balance "chic and cheeky"

i'm loving the glossy white walls & polished black doors... yum!

quote of the day...

"its all about creating a space that is distictive and personal to you... putting together a room that is warm, stylish and connected. filling it up - adding layers and textures, and moving things around until they feel right."

palm springs regency

i was first introduced to david jimenez in the august '07 issue of house beautiful and have since ran across his work on other various blogs. i was looking looking through my inspiration scrapbook today and was again inspired by his home in palm springs... in case you are not already aware of his work i wanted to pass along these inspirational images from his website to you...

eye candy. yum.

fabulous finds

wow, overstock is stepping up their game!
for those of you who crave the designer chairs you see published in magazines they can now be yours for almost nothing... if you don't mind having a knock off, that is! i'm not sure quite how i feel about it... after all, knock off purses make me cringe! but i do believe good design is good design, and if you love something it shouldn't matter the cost! so hey, why not purchase the cheaper version... will anyone really know, anyways?!

quote of the day

"i still love the glamour of hollywood regency, but it's time to move on... organic influences in material- like linen, wood and marble- and in texture and design- nautilus shells, raked patterns in sand- are au courant yet timeless. it's a perfect mix in this economy."

suite three: the before

6 months ago i was introduced to my first big design project since my completion of college... as i head off today to do some accessory shopping for my client I wanted to share with you the before pictures of the space... the pictures below are not however an accurate account of my first visit...

it would go something like this:
me in stilettos and a dress, on a hot summer day, climbing two steep flights of stairs (because there is no working elevator, of course), while struggling to keep my designer handbag from brushing against the walls, arriving at the top floor with no working air conditioning or electricity, to be given a tour of the space that has a 12" layer of insulation covering every square inch of the floor (picture it) now scroll.....

what did i tell you... i certainly had my work cut out for me! i don't think i have ever been more nervous/excited/scared out of my mind than i was on this day, 6 months ago...
stay tuned! a week from today i will reveal the after pics :)
and i could not be more excited or proud to share them with you!

throw pillow turned dog bed

i was sooo excited to find a new pillow for my bed tonight at you guessed it... tj maxx! it has a removable cover (washable) and is down filled! pretty damn good find for only 16.99 if i do say so myself... but look who decided to turn it into her new bed! this photo op turned out to be the ideal opportunity to introduce you to my only child: cede bella (pronounced sadie)... she has been by my side for the past three years and i would honestly be lost without her!

i am humbled.....

never in my life have i ever had a more thoughtful message waiting for me in my inbox and i wanted to share it with you all...

Hi Alisha,
Saw Ginny's office today and had to email and let you know that you have done an absolutely OUTSTANDING job. The colors are incredible and the entire office has such a warmth about it. Love the furniture you chose and the conference room is amazing. You should be VERY pleased. If I hear of anyone needing interior design services, I will do my best to steer them to you. I hope you are planning to showcase what you've done with Ginny's space, because I truly believe that once others see your talents, you are going to get a lot of business. I've worked with a lot of designers over the years and seriously, you are one of the best I have seen. Won't ramble on, but had to let you know. Congrats.

i also wanted to take the time to say thank you to the few, but very important readers of my blog!
thank you for your comments & emails!
xoxo
